Driving through California is always interesting. We hit some traffic along the way, but not too bad. Traversing along the almond fields was nutty (sorry). The landscape started to get more interesting once we headed east towards the National Parks of Kings Canyon and Sequoia. We pulled into the Sequoia RV Park and found a spot near / under a tree.

They had to come out and trim the branches:

I had to watch them to ensure that they didn’t scratch the paint!
You know it’s hot when you take Bear down to the pond and see this site:

It would be really hard to fish, swim or boat there! But, I’m glad they put that sign up!
We decided to do both National Parks in one day because we wanted to take Bear along with us and he can’t go on any hikes in the NP. That means we really weren’t going to do any hikes, just hit the highlights near the roads.
What a wonderful day we had! We started off heading into Kings Canyon which is located inside of Sequoia National Forest.

Got the pictures from both sides of the sign (coming and leaving) due to the sun. Bear sure did enjoy coming along for the ride!
We continued the long and windy road until we reached the giant sequoias:

The largest being called the General Grant:

There was also a fallen tree that a tunnel had been carved through it:

Very cool to walk through a tree!
From there we continued driving until we reached the Sequoia National Park where we took this picture:

From there we drove to the General Sherman Tree:

At the trail overlook of the General Sherman they identified the base of the in rocks:

So cool!
Along the way we saw the sad evidence of the wildfire that went through the area a few years ago when we tried to see these two parks:

Farther into the park was a fallen sequoia where people used to park their cars on it and take pictures:

They don’t allow you to do this anymore, but it was still a neat little stop!
After that we headed to Moro Rock which is a huge boulder that projects out into the valley:

Panoramic view!
Great hike up and awesome views from the top! On the drive out of the National Park we were able to take pictures of Moro Rock from below:

Awesome!
Then we went over to the Tunnel Log where we could drive our truck under a fallen Sequoia:

Kinda cool!
Took a couple of nice pictures on the drive down:

We decided not to reverse of drive back through the National Parks but instead headed back to the flatlands and drove through fields and fields of tangerines, almonds, and other fruits that we weren’t sure of. We had hoped to find a little restaurant along the way but there wasn’t one to be found! And every fruit stand we passed seemed to be unattended. It made for a longer drive than we had anticipated. Oh well!
Back at the Busse Bus in time to eat some dinner and start packing up for the next adventure!
