I called this post the musical intermission because we had already spent a few weeks up at our townhouse in Winter Park when we needed to head back down to the Denver area to go to the Red Rocks Amphitheater to see a concert that our daughter Ari and her husband Matt got us for Christmas. Our plan was to be down there for a couple days and then head back up to the townhome.
We were pretty excited to see Matt Nathanson, the Bare Naked Ladies and Train at the wonderful Red Rocks. If you have never been to this arena – bucket list item for sure! It was our second time there – the first time was in 2018 when we started this adventure and we saw, wait for it, the Bare Naked Ladies. I guess that we are creatures of habit! Anywho – on with the show.
We took Bear with us and left him in the Busse Bus II as it was parked closer than having to traverse back up to Winter Park after the show. I think that he enjoyed being back in familiar territory. Since we had general admission tickets we made sure that we got there early.
Katrina brought some snacks along so we were able to bid our time in the parking lot. So why do they call it Red Rocks?
The first concert here was in 1941, obviously they have enhanced the arena over the years. Here is how it looks today:

After we got through the front gates, Matt ran up all those steps in order to get us in the front row of general admission seating. Great job Matt! We were able to get some food and drinks before the musicians started.
Matt Nathanson was the first one up:
I honestly didn’t know who he was until I heard a few songs, especially “Come on get Higher” which seemed very appropriate as we were at Red Rocks with an elevation of 6,450.
Then came the Bare Naked Ladies whom I really liked and couldn’t wait to see them again.
They were so much fun! My favorite of the evening as I really like lyrics that I can sing along too (even though my singing isn’t great – even in the shower)!

We had a fabulous time at Red Rocks! It was particularly nice sharing the adventure with our daughter and son-in-law. Thank you both for the Christmas present! We thoroughly enjoyed it!
Leaving Red Rocks was actually quite easy and we made it back to the Busse Bus II within about 1/2 hour. Bear was sure glad to see us!
The next morning we packed up the coach, stopped at Costco and were on our way back up to Winter Park.
