After paying for the bill, we headed out to Lexington, KY to see our friends Yolanda and Jerry Davis. We stayed at a horse farm called Woodlog Covert because it is a Harvest Host.

It is a nice place where a pig and a goat run free. Bear was real interested in “playing” with them but we never let him off the chain to find out what he would do.

The Davis’s had us over for homemade pizza and they invited Ron Dutton as well as we had met him during prior stops.

The pizza was fantastic – Jerry grills them on his Traeger- very good! The best aspect of seeing them is to taste bourbons that he keeps in his bar that he aptly named “The Burn”. Wonderful evening!

The next morning Katrina, Bear and I headed over to Buffalo Trace to see which ones of their bourbons was on special. Blanton’s! Wahoo! You have to get there before 9:00am in order to get it before it runs out for the day.

We were able to get one bottle each as they have a limit. We heard from Yolanda and she asked if we were going to stop at Woodford Reserve as they just released a special. Although it wasn’t in our plan, we drove over and got our limit of bottles – two. One for us and one for them. We headed back to the Busse Bus with good intentions of getting a nap in, but that didn’t seem to materialize.

We met up with the Davis’s at a Mexican restaurant called El Charro. Decent food and good margs! Somehow afterwards we ended back at The Burn to try the new bourbons that we purchased that day. What a fun day!

Since we were leaving the next morning and only driving a few hours to Friendsville, TN to see other friends, Katrina and I decided to head back to Buffalo Trace because rumor had it that it would be Eagle Rare day.

We found out when we arrived that it was a Weller’s day. Oh well, we purchased our two bottles as Yolanda said that she would trade us for Eagle Rare. On the drive back to Woodlog Covert we stopped in the parking lot of an abandoned building to make the trade.

It felt like we were dealing drugs! So sneaky!

Thank you Yolanda and Jerry for another rememberable stop in Lexington!
