We pulled into the Asheville East KOA later after driving from Gaffney.

We tried to pull into our assigned spot and realized that it was too tight for us when we included trying to park the truck. Katrina talked with the after hours manager and got us another spot, unfortunately it only had 30 amp service so we would need to adjust our electrical input. We got all settled in and ate a quick meal while catching up on some of our taped TV shows.

The next day Katrina found a place to play some competitive pickleball while I stayed at the KOA to try to catch up on this blog. I’m so far behind! Once Katrina returned, we headed out for dinner at Curate, a Spanish tapas place which was outstanding!

Highly recommend this place!

The steak plate was outstanding! We got a little adventurous and even tried the blood sausage – pretty good. It was a food that my mother liked.

Right down the street was the Wicked Weed Brewery where I tried the Pilsner.

Afterward we stopped at Off the Wagon, a dueling piano bar. It was very interesting to hear the types of songs requests here in the south. I’ve never heard Dolly so much!

The following day we took Bear for a hike on the Hawk’s Bill trail on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Good hike although we weren’t acclimated to the higher altitude and the hills.

Bear loved to run along the trail with us even though he was supposed to be on a leash the entire time. Since no one else was around we decided to let him run free. We did run into a volunteer who was working on the trail and he didn’t seem to mind the free running dog. It is interesting to call ”Bear” when he runs up in front of us and then run into other hikers who actually thought there was a bear in the area. In hindsight we should have named him something else or call him by his proper name – Canberra.

That afternoon Katrina let Bear play in the creek that ran through the KOA. He had so much fun chasing the geese:

Duck, duck, geese

Upon the recommendation of Molli Wills, we scheduled a tour at the Sierra Nevada Brewery the next morning. What a great experience:

What beautiful grounds!

Katrina even found a beer that she enjoyed:

We met another couple, Kevin and Michelle Albro, on the tour and decided to have lunch with them at the brewery:

As we explained our travels to them they become very interested in the lifestyle and commented that that is something that they may want to try once they retire.

Are you wondering why I named this post what I did? It has to do with us revisiting places that we have already traveled to and exploring other activities that the area has to offer instead of just the obvious. The next day we were up and out so that we could get to our next destination in Lexington.
