We left the Hill Country and drove through San Antonio to meet Stan Brown at an intersection so that he could navigate us down a gravel road to his and Lynne’s ranch.

We planned a spending a few days with the Brown’s on their ranch. It was great seeing them after traveling together for six weeks earlier this year.

Bear was so excited to see “Uncle Stan” again! And, Stan was so excited to see Bear again! Stan even bought Bear two bones when he went to the butcher. He spoils Bear so much.

Bear loved being free to run around on the ranch chasing the feral cats. Good thing that he never caught one.

Stan made a delicious shrimp boil for dinner and it was fantastic! Afterwards, we played Mexican Train. Great getting together again!

The next morning the Brown’s took us to their favorite local hangout, Mi Casita, for a taco breakfast.

Wonderful little place where we got to meet some of their friends. Great group! Great tacos!

Afterwards, Stan drove us around the ranch in their Kubota where we learned about the oil business (fracking, mineral rights, pipelines, and tanks) and got to see deer, cattle, and mesquites trees.

Bear (we did, too) loved the tour.

For dinner, Stan grilled up some rib-eyes and veggies. Very yummy! After Stan and I had a Magnum ice cream bar, we all played “Cards Against Humanity”. It was the first time that we played together. I’m still not sure if I like this game or not. Some times very funny, other times not.

The following day Stan cooked us some breakfast and then we lounged around until the late afternoon. Then we drove over to Lake Corpus Christi. What a beautiful lake! We drove around the state park and got to see some deer, view the campground and catch some wonderful sunsets!

On the way back to the ranch, we stopped to see Geromino (read all about it)

and then to the Agave Jalisco Mexican Restaurant in Three Rivers for a margarita and dinner. Great food!

Since it was late when we got back to the ranch we decided that we wouldn’t play any games and headed off to bed.

Parting is such sweet sorrow as we packed up and headed for Houston the next morning.
