We had a leisure drive (at least Bear did)

down to Declo and pulled into The Village of Trees RV Park and got a spot right next to the Browns. Interesting place! Basically a grove of trees with full hook ups. Lots of full time seasonal patrons. It was tucked in behind a gas station.

Katrina made a wonderful dinner of stuffed peppers and Mexican Street corn. Absolutely delicious!

The next day we ventured to Twin Falls where we discovered the Snake River canyon. What a sight! I mean you are traveling across the plains and all of a sudden the gorge appears dropping 500 feet. Our first stop was at the Hansen Bridge to see the gorge:

The next stop was at the Shoshone Falls nicknamed ”The Niagara of the West“:

wonderful sights! We were able to walk around the rim and get different perspectives:

I got a picture of this bird:

Now, now Stan…

We learned that Evel Knievel attempted to try to jump the Snake River at a point where it was about a mile ride. Do you remember that back in 1974? He had a modified steam rocket motorcycle. I’ll let you off The hook without looking it up, he wasn’t successful. The earthen ramp is somewhat still visible through the smoke:

The marker for his attempt is near the Twin Falls Visitor Center by the Perrin Memorial Bridge built in 1927. Check it out:

I’m not sure if the plaque fell out or if some looters tore it out.

While we were there, a number of parachutists jumped of the bridge:

It was thrilling watching them! Not something that any of us wanted to try. Check out this series:

Since we were hungry we found a fantastic place right on the rim called Elevation 486. Beautiful views! We decided on ordering a bunch of appetizers and grab some drinks:

With our bellies full, we went to check out the other waterfall at Centennial Waterfront Park called Perrine Coulee. I have to admit that we were a little disappointed viewing it from a distance. A couple told us that we could park half the way back up to the top of the rim and then hike over to see the falls and even walk behind it!

Beautiful up close! We got a bit tired and I had to sit and think about it while Stan had to….

Stan didn’t really go – fake news. What a wonderful place! We were told that back in the day that the covered wagons would traverse behind the falls on their way back up from the canyon floor. We were excited to see the backside of water – according to the WDW Jungle Cruise Ride – the Eighth Wonder of the World.

Back at the coaches, we snacked while playing Mexican train dominoes. A game that we had taught the Browns a few nights previously.

What a great day! Tomorrow we are traveling, so off to bed!
