On the drive up to Columbia Falls RV Park and Campground we stopped at the Polson Motorcoach Resort to pick up some mail that arrived earlier than anticipated. We would be arriving there in about three days. After a quick stop (it’s a beautiful RV Park and we can’t wait until we stay there) we drove another hour or so around the west side of Flathead Lake up to Columbia Falls. What a pretty area!

The Columbia Falls RV resort sits about 30 miles southwest of the Glacier National Park’s West Entrance. We understand that the East Entrance is closed or very limited access because it sits on the Blackfoot Reservation which is closed due to COVID. Therefore, we can only drive up to Logan’s Pass.

We got to park next to the Brown’s again with the Godfrey’s only two sites away from us:

For dinner we had leftovers, so excited that we finally finished the ribs!

The Godfrey’s picked up their son, Garrett, to travel with them for the next week. The three of us traveled to Whitefish for lunch and to check out the town. We settled in eating at the Bulldog Saloon – fun place with fairly decent food!

The town was quite quaint as businesses were open and offered a plethora of unique goods and gifts.

We hurried back to Columbia Falls because we wanted to hit the Farmer’s Market that started at 5:00pm. That market was very different than others that we have been to as there were a lot of food trucks and less farmer’s produce. They did have a bar set up in a local barn with a guy playing guitar (and the banjo) and singing.

Unfortunately, he didn’t know “Turn the Page”.

The following day we headed into Glacier National Park and drove up to Logan’s Pass on the Going-to-the-Sun road. Two years prior, Katrina and I entered Glacier National Park from the east and took the same road from the opposite direction stopping at Logan’s Pass. So, now, we completed the entire length of the this road.

On the way up we decided to stop and taste some whiskey at the Glacier Distillery as recommended from a couple of people that we met at the Farmer’s Market the night before. I tasted four and really liked two that I ended up purchasing (Bearproof Huckleberry Whiskey and Mule Kick – great for bloody Mary’s!):

Once we got into Glacier NP, we hiked the Highline Trail that started at Logan’s Pass for about two miles before turning around. The Pass was extremely cold and windy (I mean, like 50 degrees!). Check out these pictures:

The best part of the hike was running into this fellow:

He just walk on the cliff around us and then continued down the path.

Back at the coaches, Alan and Sheila prepared a wonderful salmon dinner for all of us. Delicious! Afterwards, we played Liar’s Dice. Fun with the seven of us, Lynne won!

Late start the next morning as we were only heading about 60 miles down to Polson on the south side of Flathead Lake. This time we drove around Flathead Lake on the East side. Beautiful drive, especially through the cherry trees. Since Bear’s dog food hadn’t arrived yet (he only eats raw frozen dog food – talk about spoiled!), Katrina drove separately and met me (and Bear) at our next location.
