We got to the Carolina National Golf Course which is a Harvest Host participant.

Lots of parking available on the far side of the lot.  Saw this spare tire cover in the lot and had to share:

So true!  After we got set up we went to have lunch at the clubhouse before heading to Southport to look around.  Guess what I had?  That’s right, the club sandwich!

Southport is on the ocean and is a quaint town.  We didn’t know it at the time of departure, but the town was having a wooden boat street display and the local church was hosting “Holly Days”.  It was great fun walking around and looking at the boats and all the crafts.  A different kind of craft show – mostly nautical.  Beautiful craved pieces of driftwood.

We found a large Christmas store and had to go in a do a bit of shopping.  The place was very interesting and it got us into the Christmas spirit!  Our next stop was a local wine and beer place where we had to check out some drinks.  Kat had a red wine and I had a local brew.  Both were good!  The coasters were a type of game that we enjoyed trying to solve the riddles.

We had dinner at Oliver’s on Cape Fear.  The best fish dinner I’ve had!  Outstanding!  I highly recommend this place.  What a great find!

And a wonderful dessert to boot!

The next day we were off to Myrtle Beach and our first stay in South Carolina.  One more state completed, now down to eight with no intentions of driving to Hawaii!
