Pulled into Excel Truck Group in Statesville about 7:20am and had to wait to have the Busse Bus’s check engine light looked at.  While waiting we decided to head to Starbucks for an expensive cup of joe.  When we returned about 11:00am we were informed that the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid – it makes diesel burn clean) cap sensor needed to be replaced and that there was one recall that needed to be addressed.  Good news – covered under warranty, and bad news – needed to have the part overnighted.

Here’s a picture of the Busse Bus half backed in the hospital bay:

Knowing that we were going to be spending the night somewhere close by, we headed to pick up the Magne Shade that we had ordered about a month ago.  Decided to have them do the install instead of us tackling that project.  We were also able to spend the night in their parking lot and they even had 50 amps that we could use!  At least we got a great sunset!

A Magne Shade is a material that fits over your windshield that you use when parked to block out UV rays thus reducing the heat in the coach.  Take a look:

Looks good, right?  During the day, you can see out but no one can see it.  Can’t wait to get back into warmer weather and really check it out.

The next day we were back at Excel Truck to get the part installed.  Took longer than anticipated so we got to have lunch at a great place in downtown Statesville, Broad Street Burger Company.

Excellent burgers!

Good news, the part that they needed to fix the DEF came in and they repaired it.  Bad news, they didn’t have the part needed to repair the recall.  Would have to overnight that piece in, so we had to stay another night.  Now, if it was me, I would have checked on all the parts needed at the same time on the first day!  Really?  You just now realized that you didn’t have the recall part?  Frustrating!  I think that some truck places look at RVers as second class citizens because we are retired and the working truckers get the priority.

We decided to spend the night at a local (eight miles away) campground called Midway.  I’m not sure what it was midway between, but that was the name.  The place was OK – the only thing interesting was that they were hosting a “Wicked Woods” attraction on the weekends for Halloween.  We didn’t go, but it looked like fun and looked like it might be scary!  I don’t mean IT scary, but scary for nine year olds.

The following morning we returned (again) to Excel Truck Group about 11:00am and the part had arrived via overnight FedEx.  Wonderful!  They fixed the Busse Bus and we were off about 12:30pm.  What an ordeal!

Can’t wait to relax a bit up at Hyco Lake!
