It was a twisty turny road up to the Mountain Falls Motor Coach Resort located in Lake Toxaway, Transylvania County, North Carolina.  We had to follow the resort’s directions because our GPS didn’t know that Highway 64 had been redone and straightened out before the resort.  What a beautiful location!  Not much around the area, but the resort itself is fabulous.  Photos from our site (#44):

Around the resort:

They were having “Octoberfest” and some very high end coaches were on display.  So, Kat and I went to view them.  Marathons, Milleniums, Libertys, and Featherlites – all built on the Prevost (bus) platform.  Some of them were new and some of them were used, the prices ranged from $840,000 to $2.4M!  A little steep for my wallet.

We ran over to The Falls Restaurant for a quick dinner.

I had the lasagna special (salad and garlic bread) for $10.99 while listening to two guys playing music.  The falls were right out the window.  Guess that’s why they named the place The Falls Restaurant!

It rained the entire next day so we sat in the Busse Bus and got caught up on laundry, blogs, TV shows – I think we watched 42 episodes of Bar Rescue!

For our last full day there we were able to go out and do some hiking and see some of the nearby falls.  But first we needed lunch so we stopped at Mayberry’s in Brevard.  The local owners named it Mayberry after the TV show because as children they used to say that Brevard rolled up the sidewalks at 9:00pm just like on the show.  I had the meatball sandwich – excellent!

Unbeknownst to us, Brevard is known for white squirrels.  I guess that there are only a couple of places in the United States that have white squirrels – and they are white, not albino.  We didn’t see any, but the town celebrates them:

Off to the hiking.  Our first stop was at Looking Glass Falls:

Then off to Moore Cove Falls Trail:

Not much water flowing, but with the sunlight it sure was pretty:

We let Bear play in the water near where we parked:

Drove up to the Blue-Ridge Parkway where we stopped to get these pictures:

Beautiful with the leaves changing colors!

Then headed back to Mountain Falls to pack up the Busse Bus as we planned on leaving early the next morning.  We were off to get my boo boo fixed.
