So we left the Hoots Rally earlier than expected because we wanted to get back to our home resort – Myakka River Motorcoach Resort (MRMR) and get set up for the season. We also wanted to see the hurricane Ian repairs that were made during our absence. We knew that we only had a few days because we had planned on flying out to Winter Park, CO to see the townhome that we had purchased at the end of August.

We got in about 7:30pm Friday night, missing the Meet & Greet by over an hour.

After we quickly got set up we headed over to one of our favorite restaurants, the Big Bamboo, for a late dinner with our next door neighbors, Roger and Wendy Hostra. Great evening with good food and conversation.

The first thing that happened the next morning was the generator starting up. Rats! I had to unplug it and called Rory from Newmar. He gave me a couple of things to try but those will have to wait until we get back from Colorado. After that fun we cleaned the entire site, casita, lanai, pergola and coach. Once all cleaned we were able to start putting out the furniture, and we brought the trailer up to the site and unloaded it.

Thank you Hockstra’s for all the help. That evening we (the four of us) went to Bocca Lupo for coal fired pizza. On a full moon you can order a very large cheese pizza for like $10. Such a deal!

On Sunday we finished up all of our work, Katrina got to play some pickleball with her partner that she would be playing with in a tournament in Naples the next weekend. By dinner we were so exhausted that we opted for leftovers and an early night to bed.

Monday was a “pack up the winter clothes” day so that we could take them out to Colorado. We had our cold weather clothes packed in the bays of the Busse Bus, in our trailer, and in our storage area. What a lot our work to find clothes that you haven’t worn in years but saved because you knew that someday they would come in handy. We packed up five large suitcases filled with coats, hats, gloves, long John’s, etc. Stuff you don’t need in Florida or while we travel during the summer months.

Wendy and Roger were gracious enough to agree to watch Bear while we were gone. I think that they love Bear as much as we do. Thank you!

Early, and I mean early, on Tuesday we drove to the Fort Myers airport to head out west for the next adventure.
