After saying our goodbyes to the Cassidy’s we headed up to Medora, North Dakota and stayed at the aptly named Medora Campground. A pretty decent place:

We wanted to visit the area for three reasons:

  1. Theodore Roosevelt National Park
  2. Medora Musical
  3. Pitchfork Steak Fondue

Katrina had made us reservations for the Medora Musical

the first evening so after we got set up we headed over to watch the show. What a beautiful setting!

The ranchers had to herd an elk out from behind the stage when we arrived.

Here are some pictures from the stage and actors:

The featured act was a dog performance from the Canine Stars from America’s Got Talent:

The entire show was actually good and it was full of North Dakota history, patriotism, and glory to God.

Exactly what you would expect!

The next day we got up and headed into the Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt National Park.

We drove through the park and got to see some wild animals; bison:

And wild horses:

The views of the badlands were great!

Especially the rock formations:

After the nice drive, we went into downtown Medora and saw this wonderful covered wagon:

A nice western looking town! However, they did not have a grocery store. We will need to stop along the way when we leave.

That evening we attended the Pitchfork Fondue where they stab multiple steaks with a pitchfork and then plop it into a boiling cauldron of oil. A very interesting experience kinda like a chuck wagon style.

The meal was pretty good although I wouldn’t have to go out of my way to attend again.

We had a nice time in Medora doing a number of first things for us. A good stop, but we needed to get on the road again heading east.
