After a tense drive up the mountains and switching back and forth, we made it to Granby, Colorado. On the way up we passed higher than 11,000 feet! The rally was held at the River Run RV Resort which is relatively new. What a beautiful place! The amenities are fantastic!

Over 300 sites, including rentals of stagecoaches, park models, yurts, and Airstream trailers. Look at the site map:

Here’s the Busse Bus all situated:

We were there to attend another AIM Rally. People have asked me what an AIM Rally is. It is a group of Class A Motorcoaches that is sponsored by National Indoor Recreational Vehicles Centers (NIRVC) and Freightliner. NIRVC started the club and continues to run the enterprise. AIM stands for All Inclusive Motorcoaches. A rally is when coaches gets together as a community to experience the same activities in the area. There are also technical discussions, meals, and entertainment. At this rally there was 101 coaches in attendance. Check out the agenda:

Now ya know.

We got there around noon so we met up with a few people that we knew; Alan and Sheila Godfrey, Bob and Sue Payette, and Blair and Shug Bury for lunch at the Summit Bar and Grill on property. We had met them last year at a prior AIM rally in Wyoming. It’s always fun catching up with friends that you meet along the way and finding out what they had been up to since our last meeting.

That evening we met up with many more friends at the Happy Hour, dinner and entertainment that followed. There was a DJ spinning music that a lot of people got up to dance.

Fun was had by all!

The next morning we got up to play pickleball with the Godfrey’s and the Payette’s. After being in hot temperatures over the past few months it was sure nice playing in the high 50’s.

After having lunch, we headed over to the nearby stables for a mountain horseback ride (some attendees chose to take the horse drawn wagon instead):

Absolutely breathtaking views on the ride. We did get a bit of excitement when a few of the horses reared up and started to run. The riders really had to hang on and calm them down. On the way back we stopped for a beer at the Granby Garage Roadhouse. Great little local establishment!

After dinner we decided that we were tired (and cold) so we headed back to the Busse Bus to catch a few more episodes of Yellowstone that we had been bingeing.

The next day Katrina played a little pickleball while I regenerated the water softener and changed the filters. When I went to put the house filter back together it was spraying water all over the place. Apparently, I lost the O-ring somewhere along the line and would need to find a replacement.

Our excursion for the day was riding side-by-sides around the mountains of Colorado. What a blast!

The Godfrey’s and the Busse’s rode together all around the trail. It was great because it wasn’t a tour and we could ride anywhere and as fast as we dared. Before getting on the bases to take us back to the resort, we were able to stop at the liquor store and grab a beer to go. Blair stopped to make an old fashion phone call on his cell:

Before dinner I ran to Ferguson’s and found the O-ring and got the water running into the Busse Bus again. Disaster averted for $3.51! We enjoyed a Mexican dinner and then got to watch the entertainment which was a guy singing and playing guitars.

He was pretty good and got people up and dancing.

The following day our excursion was white water rafting. We loaded up into buses and headed up to Klemmling for our tour. This was the same place and tour company that we did the side-by-sides with the previous day. We had a wonderful time! In our raft were: Shug and Blair, Bob and Sue, Sheila, and Katrina and I (and, of course, our guide Allison).

It was more of a float than us hitting any real rapids. There were a lot of boats on the river with some people jumping off the cliffs along the river.

Not us, we are still sane (and old).

Once we got back to the resort we had a quick late lunch and then headed over to the Summit for a drink. While there, we play a few rounds of Jenga.

Katrina even captured an action shot of Blair losing the round!

After dinner we had entertainment of a four piece band that sounded pretty good. Towards the end of their playing they really got people out on the dance floor.

We then headed over to the Godfrey’s coach to play Liar’s Die. With ten of us there, the game took a very long time. In the end, I won with two dice still in my cup! With us were the Godfrey’s, the Payette’s, the Bury’s, and a couple that we had met playing pickleball, Jackie and Ron. They were not part of our AIM Rally, but some very nice people. Here’s a picture of Shug and Katrina:

The following day was the last official day of the AIM Rally. We had a chance to say our goodbyes during breakfast. Parting is always sad, but we know that we will see all of our friends again either during our travels or at the next rally.

Katrina and I tacked on another day so that we could relax and get caught up on every day living, like dishes, grocery store resupply run, and laundry. The Godfrey’s were also there longer and we all drove up to Winter Park for dinner at Deno’s. Our friends in Myakka, Larry and Bouraine Smith have a place nearby and recommended the restaurant. It was a great recommendation! Superb food! The mussel appetizer was phenomenal! It was nice having on evening by ourselves to catch up and discuss future plans.

Up and out the next morning heading to Northwest Utah.
