We left Keenan in Houston to travel up to Dallas as we were finally going to get the full wall slide fixed at National Indoor RV Centers (NIRVC). Our technician there was the person who identified the issue with this model and had performed a lot of the fixes to coaches. In fact, he has trained the Newmar technicians on the fix. We were excited to get it done. Since NIRVC seemed to be experts in wall slides (at least to us) we had them look at the other two slides as well and adjust them if needed. Since we were having the Busse Bus worked on over the Thanksgiving holiday we also planned a trip with the kids to Jackson Hole, WY.

We pulled into the parking lot at NIRVC and talked with the technician and scheduled the service for the following day. Meanwhile, Katrina found us a place to keep Bear while we were gone from the Rover app. What a fantastic app! We have used them many times in the past. That night we were able to catch up with Mike and Cindy Leist for dinner at 1845 at Lakeside in Flower Mound.

We got some great appetizers while we listened to a band.

It was great catching up with them and being outside listening to live music again.

The following evening we were able to catch up with Debbie and Doug Knause as they stopped by the Busse Bus to check out our home and then we headed out for dinner.

They took us out for steak at Al Biernat’s North and paid for it! Thank you Knause’s! We also learned about their recent purchase of the Touchstone Ranch Recovery Center. A place where people can go for drug/alcohol addiction treatment. They have been so dedicated to this cause and we hope that they are very successful!

The next day we dropped Bear off before heading to the airport for our vacation. What a cute place that Katrina found for Bear:

What great and inventive doggie houses! Bear had a place of his own complete with a heater and TV. What a dogs life!

We found out from Keenan that we had been exposed to COVID-19 by one of his friends that we met while visiting him in Houston. We wanted to get tested before we left to meet the kids but we were unable to find a testing site that administered rapid tests. Since we didn’t feel sick, we decided to continue our trip and we found a site in Jackson Hole where we could get tested upon arrival.

See my Thanksgiving Vacation post for details of Jackson Hole.

Upon our return to Dallas, we found that the full wall slide had been completed fixed, floor tiles and all! Apparently, the cost for this fix was over $10,000, yikes! Thankfully, Newmar covered the entire bill under warranty! Once again, Newmar going above and beyond our expectations.

NIRVC adjusted the galley slide and found a broken piece with the bedroom slide. Because of this, they had to order the part from Newmar which delayed our planned departure date.

That left us with a free night so we called up Rick and Noelle Heath for dinner. They were free and it was great to catch up with them and hear how well TruAura is doing. Rick is the CEO of TruAura which rose like a Phoenix out of the ashes of BeautiControl.

The next day the part arrived and NIRVC was able to install it and we were able to depart the following morning. The extra time allowed us time to play with Bear as he was so excited to see us after we picked him up.

Off to our next AIM Rally in the wine country of Texas.
