Left Paducah and headed up to visit with some of Katrina’s family in Evansville, IN.  Kat’s  Dad grew up in Evansville and two of her aunts with their families live there today.  Aunt Debbie and Uncle Butch said that could stay in their driveway as it was long enough.  It was, but the problem was that the curvy, tree-covered, mule path of a road leading to their house wasn’t going to cooperate with the size/weight of the Busse Bus.  Good thing that we quickly pulled into the high school across the street to check it out before trying to maneuver to their house.

We ended up “camping” in the high school parking lot and parked next to the school buses:

The Busse Bus even looks big parked next to school buses!

Deb and Butch were able to visit our rig:

Deb and Butch own a restaurant / bar called the Hornville on rural roads just outside of Evansville in a town called Euphoria that we wanted to visit for dinner and drinks that night!

What a delightful dinner!  Superb service!  Generously poured drinks!  I highly recommend this place!  Deb and Butch were able to sit and chat with us, as well as, Kate (Butchs’ daughter) and her husband Gene.  Kate works at the tavern weekend evenings to help out.  Deb and Butch actually have the place up for sale because they want to retire, so if you know anyone that wants to purchase a profitable tavern, let me know and I’ll hook you up!

The next day we took Bear over the the 4H fields and let him run around a bit.  Of course, he found a rock and had to climb it:

He is definitely part mountain goat!

Later in the day we headed over to Deb and Butch’s house to watch a bit of the Cubs game and Aunt Harriett and Uncle Don were able to stop by and we were able to catch up with them.  As an added benefit, I was able to use their shower to conserve water whilst we day-camped.

Debs’ son Clay, his wife Jamie and their kids also had the chance to visit the Busse Bus and they were able to envision life on the road:

It’s always great visiting with family and getting caught up on their lives.  All too often life is too busy – not while you are on the Busse Bus – we have nothing but time!
