After getting all packed up, we headed out of the Myakka River Motorcoach Resort early (4am) on Saturday morning. We needed to be at Newmar in Nappanee, IN by Tuesday morning at 6am. Just under 1300 miles! Without having Katrina do any of the driving, it’s going to be a long few days!

We didn’t have a planned stop to get to, so we decided to just drive until I was done (stick a fork in me).

The Busse Bus II is rolling on it’s initial adventure…..

We wanted to get at least 500 miles done to evenly break up the trip. Since we left early we were able to scoot around the Tampa area without any traffic. A real Bennie! Next major congestion would be Atlanta. We considered stopping before there but since we were rolling we pushed through during early Saturday afternoon traffic – it wasn’t too bad. Here are the states that we rolled through:

Katrina found us a place to boondock just south of Chattanooga, TN at a Bass Pro Shop.

Nice parking lot with a few other RV’ers. The nice part was that there was a Twin Peaks restaurant within walking distance for dinner. We had never been to one and try to avoid chain places, but what the hell? It was good enough for a stopover. I also learned why they call it twin peaks (it has nothing to do with mountains)!

So the first day out we completed one half of our journey north. 661 miles – the most we have ever done in one day!

Loving the new coach!
