I can tell you that Florida is a long drive! We drove from Madison which is East of Tallahassee to Huntsville which is located about 15 miles south of Tennessee all day. Huntsville is called Rocket City, USA because after WW2 the scientists that the US acquired from Germany ended up here next to Redstone Arsenal to develop the US rocket and space capacity.

All US rockets were developed here in Huntsville through the space shuttle program. We arrived at the US Space and Rocket Center RV Park around 4:30 and we were able to get set up prior to Bill and Tamara Burkard stopping by before heading out to dinner. We decided on Greek food and got some gyros at Big Papa Gyros. We hadn’t had Greek food in a long time and we enjoyed the flavors.

Since we had a long day we decided to head home to get some rest.

The next day Katrina helped Bill and Tamara’s daughter Lexi and her husband Zach pack up to move to Tennessee. I stayed back and took care of a few issues on the coach that needed attention. I also smoked some beef tenderloins because everyone was coming over for dinner. Their other daughter Rayna and her new husband Michael joined us for the evening.

Bill has become somewhat of a bourbon aficionado and he brought us a taster of Taylor and a bottle of Eagle Rare for our birthdays! After dinner we introduced them to the game “Pigs”. We really enjoyed the evening and seeing our friends again!

The next morning we headed over to Red Bay.

It was so great to see you all and spend some time time together! Ed’s smoked beef tenderloin was amazing and Katrina’s homemade sour dough bread was a hit! The only thing better was the fellowship of treasured long time friends! Safe travels – hope to see you again soon. 🙂
