Even though the world was closed down due to the global pandemic we were able to add the remaining seven drivable states completed. We left the Chicago area and headed out to finish our task going to Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Utah and Nevada. We initially thought we could see all 49 states within a year, but it took us three.

With that goal completed, we can now return to our favorite places and explore other areas that we either skipped or glossed over. We continue to pick different roads to travel to see other parts of this beautiful country:

Taking different roads often adds additional miles. This year we added 15,187 miles to the Busse Bus ending at 47,197.8:

Our third year ended with a couple of determinations. Our favorite state is still Alaska, but we were really surprised on how much we enjoyed Idaho. What a beautiful state, the lakes and rivers with the backdrops of the green trees was breathtaking. Our next favorite was Utah where you can ski up in the mountains, but also hike the scenic trails of the desert. There are five National Parks which we were able to hike in four of them: Arches, Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Canyonlands. We will need to return to hike in the Capitol Reef National Park. People always ask us what our favorite states are, well, now you know.

This year also had us purchasing an RV Lot in Florida where we plan on spending the winter months. We determined that the Myakka River Motorcoach Resort met our needs the best as it is located below the “tropic line” in Florida, was close to the gulf, was on the west coast of Florida, where we could build a casita, and where the people are active, youthful and very nice. It’s great to have a place to call “home”.

Another question that we always get is: “When are you going to be done?” Or “What’s next?”. We have decided to keep going with this lifestyle for some time into the future. I’m sure that when we have grand babies and our kids settled down a bit that that will change our minds and be the catalyst for a change. So, for now, we will continue to travel during the summer months and stay in Florida for the colder months.

Until next year, safe travels from our house on wheels to you and yours!
