We woke up to very cold weather and light sleet. We had a long drive planned so we knew it would be tiring on the road. Drove all the way down to Lajitas, TX which sits on the Rio Grande nestled between the Big Bend Ranch State Park and the Big Bend National Park. Once we pulled into the Maverick Ranch RV Park we were able to see how much dirt, grit and grim we had on the coach and on the truck. Yuk! Bath time. Very nice park:

We spent the greater part of the next day washing the Busse Bus and BBT. Needed to be done although the activity ate into our day of exploring. In the afternoon we were able to check out the Lajitas Golf Club and make reservations for dinner the next evening at the Candelilla Cafe. Then we drove into the Big Bend Ranch State Park. This area is beautiful and very mountainous. We pulled off the road near the Rio Grande and let Bear play a bit:

Great views along the way:

We stopped and hiked on the Closed Canyon Trail. What fun! Bear enjoyed being out.

Fun slot canyon that Bear loved to hike (we did too).

The next day we drove to the Big Bend National Park

to hike Santa Elena. Long drive, but great hike along the Rio Grande.

Mexico was so close that I could almost throw a stone across the river. What a great day!

We got back in time for our dinner reservation at Candelilla Cafe located at the Lajitas Resort. The grounds were beautiful!

I had the best salmon that I have ever eaten! Delish!

After a wonderful meal, we headed back to the coach as we planned on leaving the next morning. I wish we had more time here. One thing that we wanted to do but didn’t have time was to rent a golf cart and ride around the gold course. We heard that it is beautiful. Next time….
