It is so good to meet great people along our travels. Case in point – Laurel and Jack Pope. Katrina quickly met them while we were in Bonita Springs, FL as they parked their new Dutch Star near us. We ran into them again in January at the Tampa RV Show. Then we ran into them again at the Naples Motorcoach Resort. They also stopped to see us at the Hoots Rally in Sturgis. Why is all this important? Let me tell ya….

We needed to go to National Indoor RV Center in Las Vegas to have our windshield replaced as we had pick up a rock and it spread into a crack right in front of the driver’s seat. When windshields are replaced you cannot stay in the coach and need to find a hotel. Pope’s to the rescue! They own a condo in Lake Las Vegas and let us say there for the duration of our repair. Thank you, thank you, thank you Popes!

Lake Las Vegas is a beautiful area north of Henderson, Nevada. Their condo is in the Viera complex of the MonteLago Village Resort. Unfortunately, we did not get any pictures from this beautiful place! I guess we were so enamored that we forgot to photograph.

The day after we arrived, we rented a pontoon boat on Lake Mead – the lake that was created by damming up the Colorado River with the Hoover Dam. What a great day! We were able to take Bear with us.

Bear loves pontoon boats! And my favorite picture:

Ralph Lauren or GQ cover?

How about this one of Bear:

Dog fancy or Modern Dog cover?

We were able to teach Bear how to jump off the boat directly into the water. After numerous attempts, it took Keenan being in the water and Bear jumping to him. After mastering the boat jumping, we then tried to get him to jump off of rocks. Again, it took Keenan in the water coaxing him:

We thought that having floating toilets on the water was rather interesting:

We pulled into a alcove called Quiet Cove and we were able to catch these photographs:

Pretty cool!

After getting docked and driving back to we headed down to the strip to have dinner. Although shows weren’t open, casinos and restaurants were:

We even got to see some outside water shows:

We went to dinner at Nobu in Caesar’s Palace. Phenomenal food!

High-end Japanese cuisine with high-end prices!

We did get to gamble a bit, although a little different than other times that I have gone:

COVID gambling – I guess the beat goes on….

The next day I went to check on coach and pick up some things that we forgot to bring to the condo. I found out that the windshield had not been ordered. Also, they couldn’t get a Whirlpool repair person out to look at clothes washer due to COVID. The electrical panel that we purchase did not fix the issue and a full diagnostics of the electrical circuits going to that panel would have to be completed. They didn’t hear the same loud bang when bringing in the full wall side that we do occasionally. Since we wanted to take off the the next day, they didn’t have time to look at trim on full wall slide. Therefore, we were unsuccessful in getting all of our issues resolved. We will have to book another time to get it all done. Good news was that there are more National Indoor RV Centers on our way back to Florida that we can stop in.

When I was driving back to the Pope’s condo, I had to stop the truck and let coyotes walk across the road:

While I was checking on the coach, Katrina and Keenan got to hang out at the pool and get some laundry done. They said that the pool was nice and refreshing.

For dinner we stayed in the MonteLago Village area and ate at Luna Rossa. The food was ok, although it was hard for us to really decide as we weren’t terribly hungry.

We headed back up to the unit and chilled the rest of the evening. The next morning we had to pack up and take Keenan to the airport before going to pick up the coach. Always sad to see one of your children off! Good to know that we would be seeing Keenan again in a few weeks as we would be working our travels east and through Texas.
