We drove over to Heber City which is nestled in the mountains outside of Salt Lake City. What a nice little town just past Deer Valley and Park City. We stayed at the Mountain Valley RV Park. What a beautiful place! They had divided the park into a general stay area and an adult only part. It’s nice not to be parked near kids where they play with their remote control cars and drive Bear crazy!

For dinner we drive over to Sundance (think film festival) and ate at The Tree Room which is owned by Robert Redford and hosts his private art collection (pictures not allowed of artwork).

The dinner was phenomenal, although a bit expensive.

We ended up calling it our anniversary dinner! The most interesting part of the meal was when five couples sat close to us and were rather loud. They felt bad and sent us a dessert on them. The funny part was that Kat and I talked about the group and wondered if tables sitting next to us and our friends when we went out to dinner in Mundelein felt the same. Needless to say, we appreciated the gesture and started talking with them. They loved hearing our travel stories!

The next morning we headed over to the pickleball courts at Mountain Valley and picked up a few games with some other players.

Met three other fun couples. They told us about a place for dinner called Back 40, a farm to table restaurant.

After pickleball, Kat and I headed over to Park City to ride the Alpine Coaster. It sounded like a lot of fun. Unfortunately, when we got there we learned that it was closed but there was another one at the Utah Olympic Park (UOP) – where the 2002 Winter Olympics where held. So off we went.

When we got there we parked in the UOP parking lot – socially distantly:

Note the ski jumps and bobsled runs in the background.

We got there too late to ride, but we were able to see some ski jumping into the pool.

So cool! The participants that we watched were in club (after school) and people that had paid to try it. As we were walking out, an employee told us about the professionals giving a show the following night. We went into the museum to purchase tickets.

Once inside we looked around at the history of skiing and the Utah slopes. We had a lot of fun trying ski jumping on the simulator:

Katrina did much better than I did. I ended up crashing every attempt and my simulated body was was spewed all over the slope – I looked like the scarecrow after the flying monkeys attacked from the Wizard of Oz.

We headed back to Heber City and had dinner at the Back 40. It was as good as advertised.

We had a great day planned for Keenan’s arrival. Jennifer Ehlers (this blog’s number one fan) was picking him up at the airport when he arrived at noon. Well, Keenan missed his flight and his new arrival time was 10:30pm. We decided to still accomplish our planned activities with Jenifer instead of Keenan.

Our first activity was to go to the High West Distillery. I know what you are thinking, a distillery in Utah? Yep, it was built about ten years ago. What a fantastic place on the Blue Sky Ranch.

The tastings were not to our liking.

We did have lunch on the property and it was very good.

Afterwards we had to hurry back over to the Utah Olympic Park to catch the ski jumping presentation.

Fantastic show! Some of the participants should be in the next olympics!

After the show, Jennifer headed home and we headed back to the Busse Bus. We had a few hours before Katrina and Bear went to pick up Keenan. Bear was so excited to see him! He even recognized him with a mask on.

After a quick catch up,

we headed to bed as we were traveling the next morning to Bryce Canyon and we wanted to get there early to get some hiking in.
