We left Billings and drove over to Yellowstone Edge RV Resort located about 30 miles north of Yellowstone National Park. Beautiful resort along the Yellowstone river. Checked in early enough to grill out some awesome steak fajitas. Brad Anderson’s recipe – thanks Brad!
Outstanding! Whilst we were grilling (and by we I mean Stan) we saw a deer and a fawn up on the hill across the street. Great views from our location:
We were having after-dinner drinks when Sheila and Alan Godfrey rolled in. It was nice all being together again!
The next day we loaded up the Ram and drove into Yellowstone National Park.
We stayed in the northern section with our first stop at Mammoth Hot Springs. Wonderful – check out these pictures:
We then drove along the north loop road trying to find wildlife. We spotted a bald eagle:
A bit down the road we spotted a single bison that we were excited to get a picture of:
Then we continued further east until we ran (not literally) a herd of bison:
It’s mind boggling to see thousands of bison roaming the Lamar Valley floor. We also got a chance to see pronghorn deer.
I guess we got a home where the deer and the buffalo roam….
I couldn’t hold it any longer, so I just did as the bison’s do:
On the drive back we stopped at Undine falls:
Near the Albright Visitor’s Center we saw a few elk walking through the town:
Once out of the park, we stopped at the Iron Horse Bar and Grill in Gardiner for a late lunch.
The lunch options included Elk burgers or tacos, Bison burgers, and shrimp tacos. The more adventurous of us tried the elk – I had the shrimp tacos. Saw this guy on the bridge nearby:
I saw this sign at the place and had to include it here:
We spent the night talking at our campsite and having a few drinks.
The next day the other five of us (excluding me) decided to float down the Yellowstone River and I stayed back to “low and slow” some ribs and to catch up on my postings!
It looks like they had a fantastic time:
They even got to see some elk wading in the water:
When they got back to our site, we had a delicious meal! Enough ribs to feed 15 people. Great – leftovers!
Note to self: Do not put a swinging chair down slope or this can happen:
I swear that there was no alcohol involved!
The Godfrey’s were staying around the Yellowstone area for the next few days so the Brown’s and Busse’s were up and out the next morning to continue our journey northwest. Next stop should be a swinging place!

Let us know if you can stop by if heading to San Francisco. We have been to Yellowstone twice now and just got back from the southern side near Oakhurst with the kids. We bought a house and have a big enough driveway for your rig if you want to stop by. 13240 Skyline Blvd, Woodside, Ca 94062 Cell is the same 210.381.2127. I was thinking of you guys and wanted to visit your website. Looks like you are having fun and enjoying the RV and the US. Best, Rodney

Hey Rodney! Not heading your way this year. Perhaps in 2022 summer as we plan on heading to the northeast in 2021. We will keep your offer in mind! Glad you got a place and it sounds like all is going well. Ed
