We wanted to go up to Minneapolis in order to stay in Minnesota so we could put the state sticker up on our map.
Sign coming into the state.
We were a bit concerned to spend anytime in the Minneapolis area due to the unrest, protesting and looting occurring after the George Floyd murder. We did not venture into any hot zones, but we did see some of the aftermath, like boarded up windows and doors.
We stayed at the Dakotah Meadows RV Park next to the Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake. What a beautiful place! Tiered rows for RV parking. We got a back in site on the end which left us room to play with Bear.
After we got set up, a friend of Katrina’s from BeautiControl (of course), Joan Spaulding and her husband, Jim stopped by to see us and Busse Bus.
We let Joan put up the sticker on the map:
Looky there, we’re down to six more states (excluding Hawaii, of course)!
The four of us went out for dinner at Charlies on the Prior. Kat and I had bowls and they were good! Just great being out and catching up with friends.
A few weeks ago, I saw on Facebook that a childhood friend of mine was boarding up his business in St. Paul. Karl Benson lived in the neighborhood (Lexington Fields) just in front of the farm that I grew up on in Schaumburg, IL. Karl owns a number of Cooking establishments in the Minneapolis/ St. Paul area. He was in the midst of reopening after quarantine when the protests and rioting started in the area. When we were there, he was again starting on reopening, therefore he was extremely busy. We met him at one of his stores called Cooks for a few hours:
Great seeing Karl after all these years! Best of luck in your reopening! Hope everything goes smoothly for you.
We had to watch the 90’s movie Fargo because the next day we were heading that way. We also wanting to learn the local lingo so that we would fit in – ubetcha!
On the way out of town the next morning we met up with Kristine and Patrick Hawkins (you guessed it – Katrina worked with her at BeautiControl) for brunch at 3 Squares Restaurant. We were able to pull the Busse Bus into a Costco parking lot and drove in their car.
Great breakfast place! Very nice stop and quick catch up. Wish we had more time – perhaps we’ll pass this way again…
Off to Nouth Dakota and another sticker!
