On our return stay at Myakka River Motorcoach Resort, we got a real feeling for the place, the people and the area. I think that this stay solidified our initial thoughts about this place. It does feel like “home”. Check out these pictures of the place and tell me that you understand our feelings:
Views of the streets and one of the lakes at twilight and the sunset over the river from the pier and gazebo. Of course Bear enjoys it too!
We attended the Super Bowl festivities, even getting in on the squares
good thing, we won the final score and pocketed $125! Great because the next day we had scheduled massages with Ed at the resort and they costed us $160. So, almost free massages! During the halftime show, ARod was interviewing JLO outside their trailer – check it out:
Yep, JLO has taste and utilizes the same coach that we have! A Newmar Dutch Star!
We played pickleball most mornings (at least Kat did) and one day a group of us rode bikes down to South Beach, a restaurant on the Gulf on the beaches of Boca Grande. Beautiful beach, good food, good drinks and nice people!
From left to right: Ruthie, Ron, Tammy, Ed, Ron, Bonnie, Carlo, and Kat. Look at that water! We did not initially have a box on our list for a nearby bike path, but we now have added it. The first toast that was said “Here’s to Kat and Ed for making it on the bike ride without electric bikes and keeping up.” Everyone else had electric assist bikes and cruised over even with the wind in their face. Kat and I huffed and puffed….electric bikes in our future?
One day we lounged by the pool and clubhouse:
Nice situated right on the river. That night we enjoyed a solo fire:
Love our new Solo Stove – keeps the warmth and eliminates the smoke.
Another night we checked out a restaurant called Farlows on the Water. Good food and a nice setting:
Sat outside in a customer stone seating area. We had a wonderful appetizer and I tried the bourbon flight! Like two of the three, but drank all three.
The Myakka gang invited us to attend the Country Night (country singer impersonators) at the VFW. The show started at 6pm so we had dinner at Nicola’s with the Fratini’s at 4pm. Starting to feel like a really Floridian!
Fun night at the VFW seeing these “stars”:
Garth Brooks!
Kenny Rogers singing “Lady” with Bonnie!
That Toby Keith sure loves his red solo cup!
Here’s some of the gang:
Really feeling at home with these people and at the Myakka River Motorcoach Resort! I’m so glad that we cancelled the rally that we were supposed to be on and spent more time here!
Now we just need to find the right spot at the right price!
