We headed up to the Kissimmee KOA for a few days to go to Disney World and meet with friends of ours.

We talked Dee and Randy (from Bay Lake) into joining us early, early the next morning to get into Disney Hollywood Studios to try to get on the Rise of the Resistance attraction.  Arriving at DHS and meeting them there at 5:30am may seem stupid to non-WDW readers, but for us – it made all the sense in the world.  Although, to be honest, I thought that arriving 1.5 hours before the park opened was a bit extreme.  Boy, was I wrong:

Look at the traffic!  Look at the crowds!  I guess it wasn’t so stupid after all – just early!

Somehow, I wasn’t linked to the others when Kat got our boarding pass number of 88.  We were pretty sure that we would make it on the attraction based on our previous experience, but I wasn’t sure that I was going.  We had to talk with the helpful Disney Experience people in one of the kiosks set up around the park and they were able to straighten it (me) out.  I got associated with the others, so if our number came up, I was going along.  We walked in with the crowd to ride Smugglers Run.  I can tell you that Randy was in heaven – taking pictures of everything Star Wars related – quite the fan.

and milling around (Randy shopping)

88 was called.  We got onto the experience for the second time!

Outstanding!

The Griffiths’ headed back to Bay Lake and Kat and I went home to let Bear out before heading over to EPCOT.  See the new logo below:

Does any reader know what EPCOT stands for?

One of the aspects of Disney that I love is that they are constantly changing it to keep you coming back for more.  Check out these:

Human statues that would interact with the audience.  Always fun to find these types of gems on Disney property.

The main reason we were back at Disney (besides the obvious that we are Disney nuts) was that Kevin and Kathleen were down for one of her field hockey tournaments.  Which left us time to visit with them!

On our first night together, we headed over to Charley’s Steakhouse – always a favorite of ours:

One of Kathleen’s players mom came along with us.

The next morning we were off to Animal Kingdom to Pandora for the Avatar Flight Of Passage ride:

What a great ride!  In my top three for sure!

Next up, Expedition Everest:

And Dinosaur:

Of course we got to get a picture with one of my favorite characters:

What’s that thing taking a bite out of my head?

We were able to mull around over at EPCOT and got to see some models of what the future EPCOT may be post renovation:

Got to spend some other time with them outside of WDW, the best was sitting in the hot tub with Kevin drinking a few beers.

As always, getting together with the Fluharty’s was a blast!  Looking forward to meeting up again in the future.
