Drove up to Sarasota to visit with our son-in-laws’ (still seems funny to write or say for that matter) father, Brad and his wife Kelly.  They recently moved from Libertyville to Sarasota.  Unfortunately, Kelly could not be there with us as she was taking classes back up in Chicago.  Brad was an excellent host!

They bought a mid-century modern house in the Sanderling Club on Siesta Key.  What a beautiful place!  I was so enamored that I didn’t even take a picture.  When I grow up I want to own a house like this near the beach – stunning!

Brad took us down to the beach area to watch the sunset with a bottle of red.  Outstanding views!

The next day we got to watch the Chicago Bears play at Brad’s house with Kelly’s parents and her sister, Mandy.  Brad made fajitas – they were sure good!  Need to get his recipe.  After the game we headed back to the beach for another sunset:

Afterwards, we went down the street to Captain Curt’s Sniki Tiki for a drink and to listen to some music:

Guess what?  Yep, he played “Turn The Page” for us.  Captain Morgan did not join in!

The following day we headed to St. Armands Key, which is the winter home of the Ringling Circus.  Beautiful circular area ringed by restaurants and shops with statues all around.  We had lunch at the Columbia restaurant – tapas.  Absolutely wonderful!  Little portions of pure joy.  We did a bit of shopping and ended up at Tommy Bahama.  They were having a sale and I picked up some shorts.

Another beautiful sunset:

We stayed at Sarasota Sunny South.  More permanent residents and units, but the place was very clean and there was a dog park across the street.

Great visit with Brad (missed you Kelly)!  Siesta Key and Sarasota are wonderful places.  We will need to return and check out the area more.

Just curious, what Bears’ game did you enjoy? I’ll answer your unasked trivia question. It was Da Bears losing to the Packers.

I think that it was. It was the first game we were able to catch all year as we don’t get local channels and when we do they play local games. It was good just to watch a game.
