The only thing that I knew about Valdez was that it was the name of an oil tanker that struck a reef in Prince William Sound in the late 80’s and split a ton of oil that covered the sea life.  With very little knowledge of what we were going encounter once we arrived, I have to tell you that we both loved Valdez.  The drive in was spectacular through the mountains until crossing the final gorge and heading into the valley.  Beautiful waterfalls that we had to stop at and take some pictures:

We stayed at the Bayside RV Park and had a gorgeous spot overlooking the bay and the mountains beyond.  We asked the camp host to recommend a restaurant and he stated some good seafood joints.  Well, we were a bit tired of seafood and wanted a hamburger and he told us of a hole-in-the-wall place up the street.  Great burgers!  I had to take a picture of the sign behind the counter as I thought it was hilarious and I knew we weren’t in Kansas anymore.
