Drove 300 miles up the Alaska Highway or as I am learning the Alaska/Canada (ALCAN) Highway to Fort Nelson and stayed at Triple “G” RV Park. Ran into another Alaska tour group hosted by Airstream and all the units are Airstream. If you’re not sure what an Airstream looks like, think about the unit that Lucille Ball had in the movie “The Long Long Trailer”. I do love Lucy.
We got to ride our bikes as we searched the area for a petrol station that could take the Busse Bus. Found one and also found Dan’s Neighborhood Pub and stopped for dinner. Great salad!
It seems that each one of these towns has some type of tribute to the construction of the Alaskan Highway. Probably because our United States Government left all the equipment when they were done building the highway because it was cheaper than carting it all back down to the contiguous.
Tomorrow we are off to Liard Hot Springs and it’s about a six-hour drive so we hope to see wildlife along the way and then soak our weary bones in a natural hot tub.

How many days’ drive to Alaska on the bus?

Not sure as we are spending a couple of days at some places and driving different lengths on days that we drive. Here’s how we are doing it: Cross border at Sweetwater, MT then drive to Calgary, drive to Edmonton, Drive to Dawson Creek (Mile 0 on Alaska Hwy), Drive to Fort Nelson, drive to Liard River, drive to Watson Lake, drive to Whitehorse, drive to Beaver Creek and then cross border into Alaska. Distances each day vary from 128 miles to 338.
