We took the tour bus from Gillette to Mt. Rushmore through the rain and thought that it was going to be a miserable day outdoors.  Decided to grab lunch in the park before hiking the Presidential Trail that gives you better views of the sculptors.  Good thing we did because the rain stopped and we were able to get outside for these pictures:

If you ask me it looks like the presidents are crying, or sweating or maybe just have a cold.  Even with them wet it was an awesome experience to marvel at this work of art.  The detail from so far away was incredible.  I particularly like Roosevelt’s glasses although I couldn’t a decent picture of them.

During the bus ride back we stopped at the Crazy Horse mountain craving and although not near completed, it was stunning to see what the artistic family (multiple generations already) is trying to accomplish.

Once completed, Crazy Horse will be riding a stallion and the entire mountain will be the monument.  We’ll have to come back in 50 years to see the progress!
