Closing on our house is all set for noon on April 27th.  I expect a call from our attorney by 12:30 knowing that the buyers would try to negotiate concessions rendering a lower price.  I was wrong, the call came in at 12:15.  Buyers inquired about foyer tiles as three of them seemed scratched on the move out.  Wanted to know if there were additional tiles leftover or if I would be willing to cover the cost – $75.00.

I’m done negotiating with them.  Told attorney to take this and/or anything else they wanted out of the realtors’ commission.  Didn’t hear back from the attorney.  Our realtor texted us to let us know that she informed the buyers that we had left many items behind for the such as three pool filters, salt, pool basketball hoop, etc.  Possessions that would be very useful to the new homeowners.

Deal closed without another hitch and without changing the contracted price.

One down and one to go.  During this entire ordeal of selling, packing, moving, purchasing, storing, and cleaning our house I also negotiated the sales of my grandparents house in downtown Mt. Prospect to the Village of Mt. Prospect.  The V of MP has been eyeing the property for years as they wanted to build a park on the corner lot.  House appraised value: $275,000, sold for $425,000.  My real estate father always stated location, location, location drives property values.  He was right as usual.  I stipulated that the park to be named:  The Edwin and Elsie (Meyn) Busse Park in the contract.  Little piece of history here:  The Busse and the Meyn clans were 2 of 5 founding families of Mt. Prospect.  My. Prospect just celebrated 100 years.
