We left Ohio and headed up to Blue Lake again to stay with Roger and Wendy Hockstra at their beautiful lake house. We needed to stay with them so that we could empty out the inside of the Busse Bus II so that we could take it to Newmar to have them repaint all the woodwork. Back in May when we had stopped there they agreed with us that the finish on all the wood wasn’t correct and that they would take care of it, but that they needed the coach for two weeks. Two weeks? We live in it so what were we going to do? Roger and Wendy to the rescue! They agreed to house us and store our stuff for the duration. What fantastic people! Let me say that again, what fantastic people!
On the trip to their house, we stopped in Charlotte to have Spartan (chassis manufacturer) look at the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that we had them install last June as it wasn’t picking up the rear tires of our truck. We stopped unannounced and they would good enough to fit us in! It took a couple of hours but they got it working – they said it was a software configuration issue. About an hour into the rest of our trip to Blue Lake, we had the same issue. Called them and we need to stop there again later this summer.
In Blue Lake we spent days unpacking the inside of the coach: all clothes, food, drawers, etc. What a pain in the ass! Luckily, Roger had a closed in trailer where we could move the non-perishables.

Here’s the inside of the trailer:

I can’t believe all the stuff that we have crammed into the tin can! The inside looked barren:

We did get to have a little fun as well. Wendy found a speakeasy called The Trap Door in Clare, MI about a 45 minute drive away. We headed up there for dinner and the experience.

What a cool place! Wendy nailed it! Good food, drinks, atmosphere, and singers!
On the drive home we stopped to see the Leprechaun, a statue in Clare.

All in all – a great evening!
The next day we finished packing up and headed to Nappanee, IN to drop off the coach.
