We love boondocking with the Hockstras! Roger and Wendy Hockstra are our next door neighbors at the Myakka River Motorcoach Resort in Florida. They have a “sticks and bricks” on Blue Lake in Michigan. Our coach stays across the street from their house on Blue Lake. Wendy loves Bear and Bear loves Wendy!

We decided to stay with them while Katrina had to fly back to Florida to have her six week check up for her knee replacement. By staying with them it gave me something to do instead of just sitting in the coach and watching Bear!
We have stayed with them before so I don’t want to write about similar things that we did before. Just to note, they have a wonderful place and many activities for visitors. We took pontoon rides,

hit restaurants,

played games,

fixed up some minor issues with our coach, and just enjoyed each other’s company.
Roger is a deer hunter and he makes “snack sticks” that he brings to Myakka. They are fantastic! He was making a batch so as in the old Shake N Bake commercial: “And I helped”.

And that’s how it’s done! Cajun snack sticks!
On Tuesday I drove Katrina down to Grand Rapids to catch her Allegiant flight into Punta Gorda. Her doctor’s appointment was the next day with gave her time to get a physical therapy (PT) session in. Her PT technician said that it was obvious that she had been doing the work on her own and that her progress was very good! Her doctor was impressed as well and gave her the clearance to start playing pickleball again! Katrina was so elated that she scheduled a pickleball training session for that afternoon! You can’t keep her down. While she was back home she stayed with our good friends, Joe and Stacey Southwick. They were so nice to loan her one of their cars! Thank you both so much! When Katrina came back on Thursday we were able to play a little pickleball on the Hockstra’s garage court!

We also got a chance to go shooting at their gun club. I used to think that I was a good shot, but Katrina killed me.

Now, if there was a broad side of a barn around….
Roger and Wendy have touted a local book store and since we had some plane travel scheduled in the next few months I wanted to pick up some reading material. Roger and I got on their “hogs” and set out to the Mecosta Book Gallery.

Once we got there I saw the appeal.

Check out these stuffed shelves:

Even the bathroom had bookshelves in it! We picked up a couple of books for $4.00 each – quite the steal.
As our time with the Hockstra’s sunsetted, we moved onto our next location the following day.
