One of the main reasons that I wanted to join the Elks was that about 400 of their ~2,800 lodges allow RVs to stay on their property. Katrina booked us for a few days at the Muskegon Elks Lodge which has an actual campground of about 70 sites. We drove by the Elks Lodge with a golf course and about two miles down the road was the campground abutted to Lake Michigan. We pulled in and got our site:

Beauty, eh?

I asked the campground manager if the Elks were doing anything special for Father’s Day as I thought it would be fun to head over there. I was informed that they were having a BBQ starting at 5pm but that tickets had to be purchased ahead of time. Also, the Elks Lodge was not open on Sunday and we were heading out on Monday. The only way to visit this lodge then was right now! We got in the truck and drove over.

Nice place!

We talked for long time with the manager who found out that if we waited until 5:30 they would know if there was extra BBQ. We chatted with other Elks at the bar and we were asked if we had met the “Traveling Elk” yet. Apparently a local Elk has been to over 700 lodges! We decided not to chance the BBQ dinner and headed back to the Busse Bus II to eat.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! We started the day by taking Bear down to Lake Michigan to play.

He loves the water so!

The beach was empty.

After getting Bear dried off we headed over to the Whippi-dip for a free Father’s Day sundae.

Wow! That hot fudge sundae was great and the price was definitely worth it!

We got back to the coach and I smoked some sausages for dinner. Guess who stopped by? The Traveling Elk! Randy Kunish is a very nice guy who showed us his placards showing each Elk Lodge that he has been to. He also gave me a pin from his home lodge. Apparently each lodge has a specific pin that Elks trade. Who know? I didn’t but now I do and so do you.

Both kids called and wished me a Happy Father’s Day! Good day.

Up and out the next morning heading to Blue Lake to stay with our Myakkans neighbors, Roger and Wendy Hockstra.
