Memorial Day. Thank you to all of our service people who lost their lives so that we can be free!
We left 450 North Harvest Host and made it around Indianapolis without an issue regarding the traffic. Most of the Indy 500 patrons left after the race the day before. We pulled into the Newmar Service Center Campground mid afternoon which left us plenty of time to set up and then we met up with Rory, our service technician, for dinner at Hunter’s Hideaway in downtown Nappanee.

We had a nice meal and caught up with Rory who has been our technician ever since we started on this crazy adventure.
The worst part about getting service done at Newmar is that the work starts at 6am. Up early every morning – yikes! The good part is that they complete the work by 2pm so there is time for a nap (yeah) in the afternoon.
Ariana, Matt, Rylan, and Kylo (dog) decided to move from Vernon Hills, IL to Aurora, CO. A big life change for them. The movers were coming on Friday and they asked us for some help packing them up. Katrina headed up there on Tuesday. With her knee healing she would be able to watch Rylan allowing them time to pack. I stayed back with Bear.
At 2pm Tuesday we got some good and bad news from Rory. Good news: 1. Newmar agreed with us that the cabinet paint did not match the doors and drawers, and 2. he would be able to complete all of the other issues by Friday. Bad news: 1. We need to bring the coach back for two weeks so that Newmar can repaint all of our woodwork throughout the coach, and 2. our exhaust system from the generator had been ripped off when I couldn’t avoid hitting a smashed 55 gallon garbage can. (In hindsight and now that I know that I lost the exhaust system, I feel very bad for whoever was behind me on the road that day). He needed to order parts and they should come in in time to leave on Friday.
The nice part about coming to Newmar is that you run into people you have met over the years. I was lucky enough to have some people there that were nice enough to bring me food as I couldn’t go out without a vehicle. Thank you for the Chinese food and donuts!
Wednesday and Thursday were the same. Up early, Bear and I sitting in the waiting area, Rory working on the coach, and Katrina up in Vernon Hills watching Rylan. Not much to report except that Bear and I took a long walk and found The Art Path:

Nappanee has always provided some things to see as you wait for your coach.
On Thursday at 2pm Rory informed me that the exhaust system did not come in and was not scheduled until the following week. That sucks as we should not run the generator while boondocking and we had planned on that over our stay in the Chicago area. Bummed out!
Rory to the rescue!
On Friday morning he ran over to production and grabbed the system that we needed (promised the supervisor there that he would bring the one on order over to him when it came in) and had it installed by 10am. What a guy!
Need to schedule time to get the cabinetry painted, but for now I can leave and head up to the Chicago area to meet up with Katrina, Ari, Matt, and Rylan. Looking forward to some family time!
