After leaving New Mexico we stopped for diesel right over the border into Texas. What great prices!

$2.98 / gallon before our discount! Wahoo! We ended up paying $2.88!!

We pulled into Amarillo about 1:30pm which gave us enough time to set up before Katrina headed over to Trendz – a fashion boutique owned by her friend, Tracy Cortesi, whom she met while they both worked at BeautiControl 35+ years ago.

We stayed at a new-to-us place called Route 66 RV Ranch which sits along side I-40. Check it out:

The new owners are currently renovating the park and adding new sites. It should be much better next time we come through the area.

I think that we got the best site in the park:

Great area right outside where Bear could play!

Once Katrina returned with some treasured booty, we got cleaned up before heading over to meet Tracy and her boyfriend, Chuck. What a great little authentic Mexican restaurant called Mariscos El Big Boy!

The ceviche was outstanding!

The pictures are ceviche on both a tostada and oysters. Yummy! You know it’s good when we were the only non-Mexicans in the place. I highly recommend this joint!

The restaurant is located on the Historic Route 66:

I was so happy to see that the original Route 66 stills has thriving businesses along the road.

From there we walked about a block to Smokey Joe’s to listen to a band.

Saw this sign at the bar and had to get a picture to share with y’all:

The band sounded good and really rocked it out throughout the night.

We must of been having fun because we forgot to get a picture of the four of us! Oh well, perhaps next time we get together.

Thank you Tracy and Chuck for showing us another great restaurant in Amarillo and taking us to listen to the band! You have been great hosts!
