We left the blazen heat of Las Vegas and headed up to visit the Capitol Reef National Park, the last of the Big Five (Arches, Bryce, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Zion) National Parks in Utah (for us). On the drive we got to see some beautiful landscapes:
We stayed at the Thousand Lakes RV Park, just outside of Torrey, UT. A very nice campground:
Here’s our spot:
It threatened rain and looked bad but it didn’t materialize into much.
The next day we traveled into Capitol Reef National Park:
Our first stop was to see the Petroglyphs:
Artwork left by early settlers of the area. If you ask me some of the depictions look like alien beings with helmets on and bolts on their necks. But maybe it’s just me.
From there we drove further into the park and topped and hiked the Grand Wash.
The currently dry river must really flow hard in order to cut through the rocks like it does.
From there we went to see the Hickman Natural Bridge:
Very nice natural bridge that you can walk under and see from both sides. On the hike back we found another small double bridge over the dry river bed where I got the picture of Katrina.
After that we decided to drive down the Scenic Route 12 to the town of Boulder, Utah.
In Boulder we had a late lunch at the Burr Trail Grill:
A decent place where we were able to sit outside and have Bear join us.
On the drive back we stopped at the farmer’s market in Torrey.
A small market but we were able to get a few vegetables.
Back to the Busse Bus to get ready for the next adventure.
