Katrina and I attended the wedding of Mitch Farmer and Natalie Jaroch which was held at the Green Bay Country Club in Green Bay, WI. By attending the wedding we were also able to stop in Chicago and see our grandson, Rylan (Ari and Matt, too.). We also had a brief meeting with Debbie Hilgenburg, a neighbor from the Myakka River Motorcoach Resort. What a fun filled extended weekend!

Our trip within our trip started early Friday morning when we needed to drive to Bakersfield, CA from Paso Robles, CA. It was about a two hour drive and we left with plenty of time to get to the airport as we wrongly thought that the Bakersfield Airport was much larger and that it would take us a lot of time to park and get through security. We were so wrong. Small airport, three people in line for TSA. Easy peasy!

We had a quick flight to Phoenix and we were a little worried about the short turnaround time. No need to worry, our flight to Chicago was delayed about an hour.

Since we were delayed, we didn’t have a gate once we landed at O’Hare and had to wait another 45 minutes awaiting a new gate. Bummer! We didn’t get up to Matt and Ari’s place until after nine, way past Rylan’s bedtime. At least we had some time the next morning to see him!

Green Bay is a little less than a three hour drive from the Chicago area. We got up there about 2pm, enough time to change into appropriate dress and meet up with Debbie Hilgenburg at the “Poke the Bear” bar located within the hotel. Clearly a reference to the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers rivalry. It was great seeing Debbie, but we missed Mark not being able to come as well.

It was a short visit as we had about a 20 minute drive to the Golf Course.

The wedding was beautiful! The ceremony was held on a fairway and the reception held outside of the 19th Hole!

What a great setting:

Wonderful food and great dancing the night away.

It was so good seeing the Jaroch’s again after being on the road for so long.

The next day we got up early (as early as you can after a late night) and drove back to the Chicago area to spend the day with Matt, Ari and Rylan. We got to have lunch with them at Cava and then Matt make delicious chicken fajitas!

So much fun being able to watch Rylan as he continues to grow and entertain us.

Early flight (5am) the next day which wasn’t fun at all. Back to O’Hare and the flights and drive back to Paso Robles were uneventful – thank goodness.

Now to spend more time in Paso Robles with Shelly and Harvey Ward.
