Now that we are back in the lower 48 states, I thought that it would be interesting to summarize the types and amounts of wild animals that we saw going through Canada, into Alaska and then back into Canada again. I’ll also add some pictures to add some color (literally).
Black bears (15-we saw several cubs too):
Cinnamon bears (4):
Grizzly (or brown) bears (too many to count):
Caribo (8) and Elk (36):
No pictures.
Reindeer (1):
Moose (20-4 babies with moms):
Mountain goats (3):
Bison (58):
Red Fox (4):
Black fox (1), Big Horns (31), and Stone Sheep (1):
Bald Eagle (>10):
Golden Eagle (3):
Otter (7):
Black Wolf (2):
No pictures.
Orca Whale (3):
Harbor Seal (tons) and Stellar Sea Lions (tons):
Finn Whale (2):
No picture.
Dall Porpoise (1):
No picture.
Humpback Whale (tons):
Horned and Tufted Puffin (tons):
As you can see we hit the jackpot regarding wild animals – it felt like we were at a natural zoo!
