Upon leaving White Horse, I was closing up the full wall slide (FWS) and the whole process stopped when it hit the back of the driver’s chair. Apparently I popped the 150 Amp fuse and the wall wouldn’t come in. With Jeff’s helped we replaced the fuse, cleared the chair and tried again. Blew that one too! Now no fuses and the FWS extended out.
We ran to the hardware store, found some fuses that would work, but didn’t fit exactly and we also purchased a 150 Amp breaker. When we got back Jeff worked his MacGyver magic and rerouted the electrical to make our purchases fit. Now we had power, but the FWS would not come in. The hydraulic pump just whined – no pressure. In order to get moving we had to bring the FWS in manually – not an easy task. With the help of my Newmar tech, multiple RV neighbors and mostly Jeff we were able to finally get it fully retracted.
We headed up to Dawson City, YT six hours later than planned which put us there about 8pm. Our place for the night was Gold Rush Campground.
Since it was still light it was no problem setting up, but without the hydraulic pump we could not extend the FWS nor extend the levelers so we had to sleep a bit on an angle.
After a long day we decided not to do anything. When I walked Bear around midnight I was able to capture this street scene of the little hamlet:
Wish we had a little more time to explore the town. I decided to travel onto Fairbanks the next day to have someone take a look at our issue(s) in case parts needed to be ordered which would take a few days. The next morning Katrina packed up and jumped in the Wills jeep as they were going to take a road trip up to the Arctic Ocean on the Dempster Highway. Bear and I loaded up and headed to Fairbanks via the “Top of the World Highway”.
Wish us luck!
