We left Dawson Creek early because we had a planned eight hour drive. The first 300 or so miles of the Alaska Highway were no problem at all – newer pavement divided road. After that the road started to get more dicey but nothing too bad yet. The drive wasn’t bad as we made some quick “stops” to take pictures of the wildlife:

Natural beauty:

With about 80 miles to go we stopped at the Tessa River Lodge at the Cinnamon Bun Center for a cinnamon roll. The roll was excellent and the stop well needed. We all did good splitting one roll between the four of us!

We made it up to the Northern Rockies Lodge that also had a RV campground.

The Lodge was situated on the Muncho Lake and offered float plane excursions:

Check out one of their original cabins:

Now that looks rustic!

Across the street was a gravel airfield:

Beautiful setting, but I’m not sure that I would like to fly and land on that runway!

Since it rained most of the day our coaches and tow vehicles were filthy! The campground doesn’t allow washing but Molli sweet-talked our host into letting us get the dirt off:

It was nice to be parked next to each other again!
