After getting up really early to watch the US Women’s Soccer Team lose then we made the big trek down from Petoskey to Traverse City to stay at the Traverse Bay RV Resort which was a very nice place. Our site was a bit plain, but without many people around us we were able to play with Bear very near the Busse Bus. It was great getting set up because our next door neighbors, Roger and Wendy Hockstra from the Myakka River Motorcoach Resort planned on staying there as well. We must of been too excited to see them because we forgot to take any pictures of the place! Bear was so excited to see them:
We headed over to the Traverse City Horse Shows at Flintfields Horse Park to watch some equestrians.
There was a representative selling Human Touch chairs that we had to try out.
So relaxing with the heat and massage!
Afterwards we headed out to dinner at McGee’s which was just down the street. The food was great! We ended the evening with a fire down at the Hockstra’s place.
The following day we went up the Old Mission Peninsula to try out some wineries. Our first stop was Bonobo Winery where we also grabbed some lunch.
Beautiful place!
From there we went to Chateau Chantal Winery and Inn.
Wow!
The views we just stunning! You could see both the East and the West Bays from on top of the hill.
We then stopped at Brys Estate Vineyard & Winery.
We decided to drive back down the peninsula and up the West Bay side to go to Ciccone Vineyard which is owned by Madonna’s family.
We made it there in time to taste a flight before they closed.
On the drive back to Traverse Bay RV Resort we stopped for dinner at the West End Tavern. We sat at the pizza bar and had the bruschetta before getting seated. At dinner Roger got the French Onion soup complete with a scissors to cut the cheese.
Yep, Roger cut the cheese! Maybe we were influenced by sitting at the pizza bar because three out of four of us ordered pizza for dinner. It was a long day so we all headed off to bed.
The following day we got up to go berry picking at Guntzviller’s Berry and Vegetable Farm. Blackberries and raspberries were in season:
We wanted to get some cherries as well so we went to Ronnie Orchards. Unfortunately cherry season was coming to a close but they still had some that we could purchase without the work of picking. We got a couple of quarts.
After letting Bear out, we headed off on bikes to have lunch in downtown Traverse City.
The Traverse Area Recreation Trail (TART) was not all on dedicated paths so it was a bit scary traveling on some of the roads. We made it and found a great place called Firefly Kitchen & Bar situated on Boardman Lake.
Then we walked through the town stopping at Cherry Republic to get some cherry related foods. When Katrina and Wendy went into a women’s clothing store, Roger and I found a rooftop deck, Pangea’s Pizza for a drink. When our women showed up we continued our perusal of the city.
We had to stop at Kilwin’s for an ice cream cone before riding back to Traverse Bay RV Resort. Katrina needed to run some errands including groceries where she picked up some steaks for us to grill over at the Hockstras. Roger grilled up some wonderful food! He’s quite the master! After another long day we headed home.
The next day we took our time packing up as we were heading down to stay with our Florida friends, Niki and Bob Andrew’s to moochdock for a couple of days.
