After a drive across the State of Missouri we got to Kansas City, KS (there is a KC, MO as well) where we stayed inside Steve and Laurie Chubb’s barndominium. A barndominium is a large garage that fit motorcoaches. Their’s was called Park 33 Premium Coach Suites and it was a beautiful place that even had a clubhouse.

We have known the Chubbs for almost five years as we met them at our first Newmar International Rally in Wyoming in June 2018. They met us there and showed us around and then we parked the Busse Bus. We must have been so excited to see them that we forgot to take any pictures!

They took us to see their home which was absolutely beautiful. From there we went to Chicken N Pickle, a fast growing chain that offers tons of activities like; Jenga, shuffleboard, bocce ball, bags, hula hoops, ping pong, life size Battleship and indoor and outdoor Pickleball courts as well as food and drinks.

What a fantastic place and concept!

It was great seeing families together playing sports with their children. I didn’t see one kid with their face in a phone. We met up with a couple of their friends; Joan & Kirt Reynders and Julie & Steve Malecki whom we had previous met down at Myakka.

Laurie had reserved an indoor pickleball court and we had enough time beforehand to try the food. It was really good! Laurie, Katrina, Joan and Kirt played Pickleball for an hour trading partners so that no one had to face Katrina every single game.

The rest of us watched and had some drinks. Afterwards we headed home.

The next day Steve and Laurie picked us up and we headed to the Char Bar located in the swanky area of Westport.

The Char Bar is known for their BBQ so we split “The Whomp! Platter” which allowed us to sample all their types of meat. We even tried their version of Hushpuppies which was showcased on Food Network.

Outstanding food!

Steve had gotten a tick bite while camping the previous weekend and his arm was starting to swell so we dropped him off at his doctor’s office to get it checked out. In the meantime the rest of us went to the Home Depot and Scheel’s. I had never been to a Scheel’s before and found the place fantastic. Scheel’s is an upscale Bass Pro Shop/Dick’s Sporting Goods. I even got my picture taken with Ronnie:

Very fun looking around until Steve called us to pick him up. His doctor prescribed some meds and stated that Steve would live. Good news! They dropped us at the barndominium to let Bear out and change for dinner.

They took us to their clubhouse called Silo for an amazing meal! Since it was getting late and we had a long drive planned for the next day we headed back home. It was so great seeing our friends in their natural habitat!

I saw a sign where they named people from Kansas. Now what would you call them? Kansasians?Kansasites? Nope, it’s Kansans. Interesting. I wonder what the Arkansasians think about that.

Thank you Steve and Laurie for hosting us and showing us around your home town. We will see you back at Myakka in the fall.
