On the drive up from Memphis we passed New Madrid, MO where geologists are predicting the largest earthquake will occur in the United States. I know, Missouri’s boot heel! Needless to say I drove extra fast getting distance between the Busse Bus and that town. You never know!

We pulled into Sundermeier’s RV Park located near downtown St. Charles west of St. Louis. Sundermeier’s was the very first stop when we started our adventures five years ago. What a difference five years can make as we are no longer “newbies” that don’t understand all the ins and outs of living in a Motorcoach. We were excited to be in the St Louis area as we wanted to see three friends there. The first ones we got to see were Jessie and Kris Minton, they own in Myakka with us. Jessie has been the CIO at Washington University for the past year and we were able to meet them at their new house.

It was wonderful being able to see them, catch up on life and see their house.

We got back to Sundermeier’s in time to get the coach ready for visitors as Mindy Simcox, a childhood friend of Katrina’s was stopping by before dinner.

Mindy and Katrina were able to catch up on life over the past few decades. Mindy took us to Salt and Smoke for dinner. Katrina and I realized that we had been there five years ago but it was under a different ownership them.

Since it was a beautiful evening we sat outside. After a delicious meal (Katrina loved the jalapeño fried bologna) we headed over to Bella Vino for an after dinner drink. I thoroughly enjoyed the Expresso Martini! We wrapped up the evening and Mindy dropped us back at our traveling home.

We met up with Al and Diane Handler at their place the next morning before taking our bikes to the Katy Trail. Al and Diane also have a place at Myakka. The Katy Trail is 240 miles long and was converted from old train rails. Beautiful trail!

We had a great ride that we terminated at the Mount Pleasant Estates Winery.

What a pretty place painted in merlot coloring. Al and Diane are part of the wine club and we got a unofficial private tour:

We even got to taste the wines:

Here’s a fact that I didn’t know: the Missouri wine area was the first AVA in the country!

We hurried back to their place to have a traditional Memorial Day BBQ with their family. What a splendid day! Al and I got to watch the Indy 500 (we may have even got a little nap in as well) while Diane and Katrina chatted with their family and played with Bear in their pool. What a fantastic day!

We pulled out the next morning and continued to head west, our destination Kansas City. We want to thank all of the wonderful people in St Louis who hosted us, drove us around, and wined and dined us!
