After three days of heavy packing and closing up our casita we left to start out on our 2023 travel season. We learned that we needed to “hurricane-proof” our place better than we had due to Hurricane Ian. Therefore packing and closing up took us a lot longer than last go around.
Since we needed to get the annual maintenance completed on the Busse Bus we decided to try out Bay Diesel in Red Bay, AL as it was highly touted by our Myakkan neighbors. We figured that it would take us two days to drive there so Katrina found us a spot about half way in Madison, Florida aptly called the Madison RV and Golf Resort.
The place was nice campground and offered a nine hole golf course and four lit pickleball courts. Neither we got to try out. However we did go to sit at the bar in the clubhouse because upon check-in it was recommended. After getting there we decided better and drove back to the Busse Bus to make our own drinks. The bar wasn’t for us as it was run down, didn’t have a sit down bar and we were the only ones there!
We had a nice large site:
and Bear loved the huge dog park along with the cooler temperatures. While I was walking Bear we came across this beautiful holly bush that was shaped like a Christmas tree:
I thought it was really unique.
The next morning we were up and out as we had another long drive before getting to Huntsville, AL where we were stopping to see some friends of ours before heading over to Red Bay.
