Exhausted from Walt Disney World, we headed back to our home base at the Myakka River Motorcoach Resort (MRMR). It was fantastic seeing our new flag flying free:

We had to get the place ready for the season by cleaning up and bringing our the outdoor furniture from our trailer that we leave on site. We got all set up within a couple of days which was great because Tom Conner and Alice Clark were coming down to MRMR to check on the casita that they were building and stay with us. We had a very nice time with them:

Ron Hodges was also in the resort checking on his casita build and we all went out for dinner at River City Grill in Punta Gorda.

A hurricane named Ian was predicted to pass by us on its way to hit the Tampa area. We had some concerns, but Tom insisted that we would not get more than 35 mph winds and some rain. The next day the Weather Channel was stating that Ian would turn into the Floridian peninsula earlier than Tampa and the predicted that it would hit Venice Beach, just north of us. We decided that we wouldn’t be safe so we packed everything back up (thank you for the help Tom and Alice) and found a campground on the southeast side of Florida near Palm Beach. All packed up:

Tom and Alice left to drive back up to Virginia. Katrina and I had a doctor’s appointment scheduled for the following day that we didn’t want to miss and we had dinner reservations at Carmelo’s in Punta Gorda so we hung out.

Great place with Italian food that is outstanding!

The next morning after our appointments we left for the John Prince Park Campground in Lake Worth, FL that was on September 27th.

Ian decide to turn a little earlier and made a direct hit in the Port Charlotte area where MRMR is located on September 28th.
