We left our friends, Cindy and Patrick in St. Augustine and moved inland to stay near Ocala, Florida which is the horse capital of the United States – so we were told. Beautiful farms all around on the drive over. We stayed at Champions Run Luxury RV Resort which is a new place that had about 500 spots. Here is ours:
Nice big site! Check out these amenities:
They even had a wine and cheese party on the night we arrived!
The following day Katrina had found a nice place to play some pickleball:
When she returned we headed up to the clubhouse because they were having a farmers market complete with succulents. Katrina brought a little drawer that she has and created this:
Didn’t she do a great job? We also purchased some vegetables for dinner. Beforehand, we headed to the pool before the rains came. Katrina made a wonderful stuffed pepper dinner!
The next morning we headed over to the Silver Springs State Park to kayak down the crystal clear Silver River. The State Park was the number one attraction in Florida before Disney came to the state! It was absolutely breathtaking!
Look how clear it is!
We saw a lot of turtles:
Some alligators:
A manatee:
The State Park is also known for its’ monkey population, however we didn’t see any. Here’s a picture of them from the kayak rental website taken a few days before our trip:
Other random beautiful pictures:
On the drive back we decided to check out the World Equestrian Center. The place was HUGE!
Seven indoor arenas, 25 barns, 13 outdoor arenas, two exposition halls, a hotel, campground, restaurants, future polo fields and retail space! The larger arenas had jumbo-trons!
Here is the hotel called The Equestrian:
We went inside to look around:
The grand outdoor arena:
We went into the Yellow Pony Pub for a drink. We sat at the bar and the food smelled yummy so we decided to come back the next evening for dinner! Since we had Bear with us we needed to head home for the evening.
The following day we lounged by the pool until the rain started. We decided to head back to the Yellow Pony for an early meal. The smells were right! The food was delicious! We took this photo of a painted horse:
Gorgeous!
We headed back to the Busse Bus as we had an early start planned for the next morning.
