After a witnessing Brad and Casey tie the knot in a wonderful wedding ceremony, we drove south the following day to stay at a Harvest Host called 1 of Us Brewing Company located in Mt. Pleasant, WI. We had wanted to get closer to Chicago for two reasons: 1) to see my sister Janis’s new house on Paddock Lake and 2) to shorten our drive the next morning as we wanted to stop and see Ariana and Matt for a few hours before driving to Nappanee for our annual coach maintenance.
We pulled into the parking lot of 1 of Us Brewing Company and got set up.
The brewery hadn’t received its’ occupancy yet and was only serving beer out of the front door where you could sit outside. They were hoping to get it by mid-July. We were able to go inside and see the place:
Lots of games. We had never seen this one before:
The object was to roll the rounded wooden ”balls” down the alley and get as close to the feather as possible. Apparently when it was invented you used cheese rolls instead of wooden blocks. Seems appropriate to me as we were in Wisconsin! After tasting their beer we headed down to visit my sister Janis and her husband Steve at their new lake house.
We arrived a little later than expected and missed most of the family members who had gathered there. We did get to spend some time with Steve’s brother Tim and his mom Vi. After getting a tour of their house and a bite to eat (yummy Sloppy Joe’s) they took us out for a pontoon boat ride around the lake:
What a nice boat ride and lake! It was a bit crowded with all the Independence Day attendees.
Bear loved fetching his water toy off their pontoon and deck:
We stayed long enough to catch the ”boat parade” as they toured past the house:
Even Bear enjoyed the show:
We had a wonderful afternoon at their lake house! Thank you Janis and Steve! Great house and we hope you have many years of joy there entertaining friends and family.
Happy Independence Day everyone!
