We made it as far as Flagstaff before we pulled over for the night. We wanted a campground so that we could empty our tanks and fill up with fresh water. We stayed at the Flagstaff KOA Holiday campground as they had availability with a pull through site so we wouldn’t need to unhook the truck. We got in around 8:30pm and got set up. After Katrina took Bear for a walk, we settled in and watched a little TV before retiring for the evening.
We were up early the next morning so that we could get an early start in order to make it to Albuquerque by noon. As I looked at the spot that we were in, I stated that had we seen this spot during the daylight that we would have passed. Katrina guided me in the night before and we missed hitting a jeep by inches. Low branches and rocks around the drive – we were very lucky that we didn’t damage the Busse Bus or BBT (Busse Bus Toad) while parking in the dark. Our GPS stated a 4.5 hour drive, so with left at 7:30 – plenty of time. What we didn’t realize was that Albuquerque was on Mountain time. Therefore we knew that we would be late meeting up with our friends for lunch. Katrina ordered food for me and we made it just in time so that we all could drive in together to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta and park next to each other.
