We left the shores of the Pacific Ocean to move inland to Eugene, Oregon. We “mooch-docked” at friends of ours house, Jessie and Kris Minton. We had met the Minton’s last year at the Myakka River Motorcoach Resort (MRMR) as they spent the season there.

They let us park in their RV spot complete with 50 amp electrical hook up! How convenient! Bear loved the spot as we could just open the door and let him out because their lot was completely fenced in. He also loved playing with Maui and Banks, their dogs.

We found out that it was the Minton’s 14th wedding anniversary, cheers to getting together:

We where able to walk over to North Fork Public House for drinks and food. Great eats!

We even were able to bring the dogs with us.

The next day Jessie and Katrina went to the horse barn where Katrina was able to get back on a horse after being off for so many years:

Look at that form! It was great that Jessie rides and was able to share that with Katrina.

Once they got home, the four of us heading to the local pickleball courts. So much fun playing together again!

From there they took us over to the University of Oregon where Jessie is the CIO.

From there we stopped at a local campus bar called McMenamins:

Once we got back home, Jessie’s mother, Barb (whom we met at MRMR), came over as we were having fondue for dinner. What a treat for us as it is our Christmas Eve tradition!

We usually cook in oil, but Jessie’s broth was outstanding and the food cooked well. My favorite was the sushi-grade Tuna! What a wonderful evening!

After Barb left, we hit their hot tub! Wonderful, wonderful!

The next morning the Minton’s had scheduled a wine tasting for all of us at one of their favorite places, Antiquum Farm Tasting Room.

They had a tasty charcuterie board to go along with the wine tasting:

Great tasting Brut, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noirs!

I thought that the most interesting aspect of this winery was that they were a grazing-based viticulture. The central tenet of this process is to grow grapes that are a part of the whole environment. Therefore, they do not use fertilizers, compost, or foliage feeds; instead they have selected farm animals that support the intricate ecosystem. Animals like Dorper Sheep, Kune Kune Pigs, Poultry and guard dogs. The pigs were in the rotation when we visited:

We even got to feed them apples!

Absolutely a fantastic winery!

The Minton’s learned that it was our 34th wedding anniversary they wanted to take us to one of their favorite restaurants, Marche. The food was outstanding!

Great evening with good friends! Very nice way to spend our anniversary.

The next morning we enjoyed some coffee and conversation on their patio before we needed to head out. It is always wonderful to spend time in a location where you know people and they take you around to the best places. This stop was no different. We really enjoyed our time with the Minton’s in Eugene!

I can truly highly recommend this campground – five star!
