Not that Camp David, the campground near Columbus, GA and Fort Bennington which is the second largest Army base in the world. It was only appropriate that we were there on Flag Day! The Camp David RV Resort is brand new and under construction with only 13 sites available.
However, they own 140 acres around a lake and I’m willing to bet that in a few years that this place will be a destination location. Since we drove almost 400 miles to get there and plan on pushing through to Myakka the next day (a little under 500 miles away), we didn’t do a whole lot.
Katrina made dinner as I walked Bear near the lake. The Cubbies were on ESPN as the late Sunday night game so we got a chance to watch the entire game. Besides, they were playing the dreaded St. Louis Cardinals and they won! Go Cubs Go!!!
The next morning I met Adam Hunt, the owner of the campground and my thoughts were confirmed regarding his plans for the place. He is a Sargent at the base and is building the campground in his spare time as a place to earn money after he discharges.
What a nice young man with a great head on his shoulders!
